Dear Guest,

Welcome to Moonshine Inn! My family owns this cabin and stay here many times each year. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Moonshine Inn is perfectly located to enjoy the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg, Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. We hope you enjoy your stay.

This Guest Guide is meant to answer most of the questions you may have about the cabin. It also provides a little information about the area. I’m sure you will find plenty to experience during your stay.

Moonshine Inn is professionally managed by Cabins USA, who provide rental booking, management, cleaning services and maintenance. If you have any issues during your stay, you can contact them 24/7 at the number above.

This Guide is divided into sections. The section for each floor/level of the cabin should explain how everything works. The other sections are informational.

  • Bears!
  • Main Level.
  • Lower Level.
  • Upper Level.

We hope you enjoy your stay at Moonshine Inn and come back again!

Bears!

There can be black bears in the Mountain Shadow Resorts. Be careful. Check outside before leaving the cabin and check around before exiting your vehicle. There’s no guarantee that you will or won’t see a bear during your stay, but you should keep a look out.  Never approach a bear. Bears are wild animals. Never leave food outside – if you are bringing food in from your vehicle, close the vehicle between trips to the front door.

            The TWRA provides this advice:

Never feed or approach bears!

If a bear approaches you in the wild, it is probably trying to assess your presence.

If you see a black bear from a distance, alter your route of travel, return the way you came, or wait until it leaves the area.

Make your presence known by yelling and shouting at the bear in an attempt to scare it away.

If approached by a bear, stand your ground, raise your arms to appear larger, yell and throw rocks or sticks until it leaves the area.

When camping in bear country, keep all food stored in a vehicle and away from tents.

Never run from a black bear! This will often trigger its natural instinct to chase.

ONCE AGAIN, NEVER LEAVE FOOD OUTSIDE!

You will notice that there is no trashcan on the front porch or outside the cabin in front. The management company will pick up the trash after you leave. If you fill the trash can in the kitchen, tie and place the bag in the can on the main level back deck. If you need the management company to take the trash in the middle of your stay, give them a call.

Main Level

The main level of the cabin is where you enter.

  • Parking.
  • There is space for 2 vehicles to parallel park in front of the cabin. Refrain from using parking spaces in front of the other cabins- you may be towed. If you need to use overflow parking, please contact the management company.
  • Do not leave your car doors open, especially if there is food inside because a bear may come poking around. Always check from the front door for any bears or other wildlife before you leave the cabin.
  • Front door lock.
  • Use your key code to enter:
  • Enter the code. You will see the lock light up.
  • Press the checkmark button. Door opens
  • To lock the door, hold it closed and press the checkmark button.
  • WiFi Connections
  • The router is on your left as you walk through the door. The network name and password are on the side of the box.
  • Fireplace
  • The gas fireplace operates on a timer. Simply turn the timer clockwise to start the fireplace.
  • Television
  • We have Spectrum Cable throughout the cabin and Roku on most of the Televisions. Download the Spectrum App to watch live TV.
  • You are in Guest Mode on the Roku. Follow the on screen instructions to set up your streaming services and be automatically logged out when you leave.
  • Main Level Bedroom

The main floor has a bedroom with  a king size bed and full bathroom. There should be plenty of supplies and towels for your stay. If you need more,  call the management company.

  • Thermostat/ AC and Heating
  • The thermostat should already be set on heat or cool, depending on the season. There are TWO AC units in the cabin and two thermostats, one on the main floor and one on the second floor.
  • Please do not put anything in front of the white air return vents located on each floor, otherwise the heating and air conditioning will not work correctly.
  • Kitchen Appliances/Cookware/Dinnerware
  • If a kitchen appliance is not working, call the property manager. The property management company does not test every appliance after every guest leaves, so please let us know if something does not work.
  • Before you leave from your stay, please run the dishwasher.
  • Garbage
  • There are 2 main trash cans. One in the kitchen and one on the back deck on the main floor.
  • When the kitchen trash can is full, tie the bag up and place it in the trash can on the deck. The cleaners will pick up the trash and remove it after your stay. Because of bears, there are no accessible outside trash cans. (The bears cannot climb up onto the back decks)
  • If you need trash picked up during your stay, let the management company know.
  • Gas Grill
    • The grill is hooked up to the house’s natural gas system. There is no propane tank.
    • FIRST, make sure the burners are turned OFF.
    • SECOND, turn on the gas valve located where the gas line meets the deck floor. Turn it all the way open (should be straight up and down).
    • THIRD, turn the timer wheel above the gas valve.  We’re required to have an automatic timer so it will shut off if someone leaves the grill on for too long (please don't leave it on).
    • THEN you can turn on the gas burner and use the starter button. May have to click it quite a few times to get it to start.

  • LOWER Level

There is a gameroom, bedroom, hottub and deck located on this level. The washer and dryer are also located here.

  • Arcade table.
  • This table arcade has about a hundred video games. You may need to plug it in and let it boot up.
  • Select the game you want to play using the joystick, then press start.
  • Select one or two players and begin.
  • Pool table.

The Lower Level has a pool table and everything needed to enjoy a game of pool.  Please do not put drinks on the table.

  • Lower Level Bedroom/Bathroom
  • The bottom floor has a bedroom with a king size bed and full bathroom. There should be plenty of supplies and towels for your stay. If you need more, please call the management company.
  • Downstairs TV
  • We have Spectrum Cable throughout the cabin and Roku on most of the Televisions. Download the Spectrum App to watch live TV.
  • You are in Guest Mode on the Roku. Follow the on screen instructions to set up your streaming services and be automatically logged out when you leave.
  • Washer and Dryer /Ironing board
  • The washer and dryer and ironing board are located in the closet. The management company should supply a single load washing detergent (usually left next to the sink upstairs on the main floor).
  • Please do not overload the washer or dryer.
  • Hot tub
  • The hot tub is on the back deck. PLEASE READ and follow the warnings posted on the wall next to the hot tub before using.
  • KEEP the cover on the hot tub when not in use. Leaving the cover off for extended periods will chill the water and damage the hot tub.
  • The hot tub jets have a “low” setting a “high” setting, and “no jets”. Use the button for the jets to adjust. The jets will automatically turn off after 15 or 20 minutes.
  • Do not set the temperature button above the recommended temperature.
  • There is a floating stabilizer in the hot tub. This keeps the water clean and balanced. If you remove it while in the tub, replace it afterwards, before you put the cover on.
  • DO NOT put any liquids– bubble bath, lotion, etc. - in the hot tub. These will damage the tub and you will be charged for the damage.

UPPER Level

  • Sleeper Sofa
  • The sleeper sofa will pull out into a bed. It should have the sheets on it. Pillows and blankets are on a shelf beside the bathroom door.
  • Upstairs Bedroom/Bathroom
  • The top floor has a queen size bed and full bathroom. There is a TV in the bedroom. The bathroom is a Jack and jill bathroom to share with anyone using the sleeper sofa. There should be plenty of supplies and towels for your stay. If you need more, please call the management company.

  • The pool is located near the entrance to the resort.  The pool is open (depending on weather) from May to the beginning of October. It is easier to walk down the hill to the pool than drive to the pool. There are restrooms/changing rooms at the pool. Bring towels, but remember to return them to the cabin. Children must be supervised. Please follow the posted rules.
  • Playground
  • Located next to the pool the playground is for younger children visiting the resort. Adult supervision is required.
  • Horseshoes and volleyball
  • There are horseshoes and volleyball next to the play area.
